New School Year is Underway
All the DCF books are now at our school library for the next 2 months. Read as many as you can! Please tell me what you think.
Bystander by James Preller
I thought this was a very thought provoking book. It got me thinking about things.
How do you define bullying? Who were the bullies in this book? Did you sense the darkness and evil? Even if you are NOT a bully is it right to stand by knowing bad things are going on around you? The author liked this quote of Martin Luther King, Jr. and I do too: "In the end, we'll remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
What do you think that means?

WHAT ARE YOU READING?
SO far I have been able to read a few DCF books. Remember DCF= Dorothy Canfield Fisher and this is a collection of 30 books. Fourth through eighth grade can vote on their favorite.
AND all 30 books are at our town library for the summer!! GO CHECK THEM OUT!!
TELL me what you have been reading and you will earn $$ to spend in our new School Store! : )
The first DCF book I read was The Dunderheads by Paul Fleischman. This book has LOTS of great illustrations by David Roberts. This is a quick read. It reminds me of Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard. However this teacher is scarier than Viola Swamp and never as nice as Miss Nelson!GREAT CHARACTERS and a couple nice surprises at the end! Enjoy this one!
